Hard chrome plating for heavy industrial segments

Hard corrugation that withstands maximum load

In heavy industry segments, such as mining, steel and process industries, machines and components work under extreme conditions. High pressures, heavy wear and tear, and exposure to dirt, moisture and chemicals place exceptional demands on every part.

At Lomma Hårdkrom, we surface treat and renovate details that must perform where there is no room for interruption. Through carefully executed hard chrome plating with included pre- and post-treatment, we create surfaces that resist wear, corrosion and deformation in the most demanding environments. Our long experience and modern equipment help you protect your details with the highest quality hard chrome plating.

Why heavy industry requires hard chrome plating

In heavy industry, it's about more than extending lifetime, it's also about reliability and economy. When a shaft, piston rod or roller wears out, downtime can mean major production losses.

Hard chrome plating creates an extremely durable and corrosion-resistant surface that can withstand high loads, high friction and aggressive environments. The surface reduces the risk of deformation while maintaining precise dimensions even after long periods of operation.

This means longer service intervals, less downtime and reduced spare parts costs, critical factors in heavy industry where machines must deliver reliable performance, year after year.

Hard chrome plating adapted for heavy industrial segments

We have the capacity to handle large and heavy parts up to 13 meters long and 10 tons in weight. This means you can rely on us for machining and hard chrome plating for the most demanding jobs.

We work with both newly manufactured parts and renovation of existing ones. This makes it possible to restore worn parts to their original condition, quickly and cost-effectively.

Why heavy industrial segments rely on us for hard chrome plating

Working with us at Lomma Hårdkrom means that you get a partner with long experience who really understands the requirements for operation, precision and sustainability in heavy industry.

  • Maximum durability and corrosion protection for extreme environments
  • Extended lifetime of large and critical machine components
  • Efficient renovation solutions that reduce downtime
  • Complete process with grinding, polishing and hard chrome plating in-house
  • Reliable quality for parts with large dimensions and tight tolerances

We handle all stages of hard chrome plating

Our strength lies in managing the entire process under one roof, from preparation to finished hard chrome plating. This results in short lead times, full control over quality and a finish that can withstand heavy loads for a long time.

Whether it's a single piece or a large-scale renovation project, we deliver pieces that work in environments where other materials fall short.

Good to know about hard chrome plating

Our machine shop has the capacity to handle very large and heavy industrial components, shafts, and rollers. Our equipment allows us to machine components up to 13 meters in length and with a total weight of up to 10 tons.

Applying a hard, dense layer of chrome over the base material creates an extremely wear-resistant surface. This surface treatment distributes stress more effectively and increases the surface’s resistance to wear, ensuring that the components maintain their precise dimensions and do not deform under high loads.

The pre- and post-treatment processes are absolutely crucial to the final result. Before the parts hard chrome plating , we perform thorough mechanical grinding and polishing to ensure optimal molecular adhesion. After the bath, the surface is further processed to ensure that no microcracks or stresses remain that could cause the coating to flake off during operation.

Yes, we do a lot of work renovating existing components. We weld and grind down the damaged surface to remove all deep scratches and unevenness. We then rebuild the material with new hard chrome plating and belt-sanding the component back to its (tolerance) exact original dimensions.

When a heavy shaft or piston rod wears out, it often results in significant production downtime and costly spare parts expenses. Protecting or refurbishing these components with hard chrome plating significantly extends their service life. This leads to longer maintenance intervals, fewer unplanned shutdowns, and a significantly safer and more cost-effective production process.
